Gross Weekend opening of Rs. 10.02 crores – biggest opening for a non 3D Hollywood film in 2011 !

Fox Star Studios’ latest addition in the X-men saga has already made records of sorts with a weekend opening of Rs 10.02 crores!

The James McAvoy – Michael Fassbender starrer action flick is running to packed houses across India and has received the biggest opening for a non 3D Hollywood movie in 2011!

With dubbed versions in Hindi, Tamil & Telugu, X-Men: First Class has been welcomed by fans from all parts of the county. Amongst new releases, it is X Men: First Class that scores better than the all Hindi releases that opened this week..

Registering the 2^nd biggest opening of 2011 for a Hollywood film in India, ‘X-Men: First Class’ has also raced far ahead of all the other films that released this year, including Fast and the Furious Five.

Touted as one of the most entertaining films of the franchise, X-Men: First Class has surpassed weekend collections of the franchise’s previous films in India, including the 2009 super hit X-Men Origins: Wolverine starring Hugh Jackman.

Talking about the phenomenal success of the film, Vijay Singh, CEO, Fox Star Studios India says, “X-Men: First Class is an exceptionally well made film packed with a gripping storyline & splendid performances. Directed by Matthew Vaughn, the film takes you back to where it all started. The storyline of the movie revolves around the friendship between Charles Xavier a.k.a. Professor X and Erik Lensherr a.k.a. Magneto before it evolved into an eternal war between Magneto’s Brotherhood and Professor X’s X-men.

X-Men First Class

While you still can’t get over ‘Wolverine’ from the last installment of the X-Men series, here’s another mind blowing saga from one of the most popular action franchises ever!

X- MEN FIRST CLASS, the latest of the X-Men films is all set to hit theaters on June 10th and going by the exciting new trailer that has already created a huge buzz across the globe, this one is sure to keep audiences at the edge of their seats!

Directed by Matthew Vaughn & starring James McAvoy, Michael  Fassbender, Kevin Becon, Rose Byrne and January Jones amongst many others, the film takes you back to where it all started. The storyline of the movie revolves around the friendship between Charles Xavier a.k.a. Professor X  and Erik Lensherr a.k.a. Magneto before it evolved into an eternal war between Magneto’s Brotherhood and Professor X’s X-men.

The 1960s setting for this film, coupled with outstanding special effects, brilliant action sequences & powerful characters is sure to thrill you like never before. And Indian audiences are in for a bigger treat as they can enjoy the film in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu as well!

Producer Bryan Singer explains that in spite of taking First Class into the 1960’s and introducing an almost new group of mutants, the prequel will connect to both X-men series loyalists as well as other film buffs. Singer further expresses how glad he was that Matthew Vaughn was to direct to the film. “Matthew has a deft hand with multiple characters and storylines, and a great love of the X-men universe. I feel the combination of this story and his vision will make for an exciting and original X-men film” states the producer.

James McAvoy states how thrilled he is to have played Charles Xavier’s character with shades of grey and his intriguing relationship with Magneto. “Professor X & Magneto’s relationship is like a powerful love story. This is the first time in their lives they’ve met someone who is an equal of sorts, someone who understands them and can connect and push them too.” At the heart of it all, McAvoy says, are Charles and Erik and the magnetic hold they have on each other.

Michael Fassbender, who stars as the emotionally scarred Erik Lehnsherr, who will become the militant mutant known as Magneto adds; “These two brilliant minds coming together and their views aren’t that different on some key things. As you watch them you know that if their understanding, ability and intelligence could somehow come together it would be really special. But the split is what makes them even more interesting and tragic.”
